Glencoe 9th - 10th May Camping

I decided to start a new thread for our mini regional meet at Glencoe. 9th May - 10th May

Meeting on Saturday 9th May (time TBA) to pitch tents, then ride out in surrounding area, overnight at campsite then make our way home on sunday.

Campsite is Red Squirrel, Glencoe..
http://www.redsquirrelcampsite.com/index.html

So I have spoken to the Campsite today, and we do not have to book, as they have plenty of pitches (200). They said just turn up on the day.

If you have not been to Red squirrel before, you can have campfires ('til 11pm), the facilities are basic , pub 10 minutes away, but fabulous scenery.
They are also cool with groups of people.

Location : Red Squirrel Campsite
Telephone: 01855 811256
PH49 4HX

I have made a google map, if anyone needs directions etc. see here.
http://www.watt-a-dog.co.uk/documents/168.html

I have found a couple of cool vids on Utube. glencoe to kinlochleven / kinlochleven to North Ballachulish

So, stick this in your calendar , All welcome , I have also posted details in the XRV Calender above...

Post if you can make it, Iam guessing that quite a few members will want to meet up and travel together to Glencoe.

If you have any input into this PLease post, as we will need some ideas for ride outs in surrounding area.

Re: Glencoe 9th - 10th May Camping

My route will probably be A814 to Arrochar then to Inveraray, right onto the A819 to the A85 then right / left onto the B8074 and finally A82 to the campsite.

I have never been this organised

Bring it on

Suggested route:
Do the Kinlochleven loop i.e. right at Glencoe to North Ballachulish via Kinlochleven. Then down the A828 to Connel (maybe having a look down the B845), then A85 to Tyndrum for a bacon butty. 75ish miles

Re: Glencoe 9th - 10th May Camping

well I have a free week-end 4-5 April.. so might have a wee look at this camp site although I was smitten by Durness Last week and looking at the os map for Faraid head just north of Durness noticed DUNES.......
so might take an overnighter to the far north...

some wild camping me thinks..... ( unless its snowing !!!! )

Or Orkney ......??

Nice route Alba, I was looking on map for my route, but have not decided yet.

Raymo. Reports of campsite welcome. I have never been to red squirrel.

If you go to orkney, remember to pack your Kite...
Excellent place, if a bit windy when I was there. The standing stone circle is awesome. roads are ace, friendly locals as well.

Re: Glencoe 9th - 10th May Camping

Yip, there are many choices.. especially up this way..

I am keen to do overnighters, weekend camping this year... and as many ride outs as possible.

The Wife says as long as I enjoy myself then go for it... as long as it does not interfere with our holidays that have been booked. I think she must be wanting some peace around here. LOL

Bring it on..... !!!
