We may have to change the itinary for the day unfortunately, I've been in touch with the TRF and I visited about 50% of the lanes we were intending to use and some of them have had temporary closures put on them and some have had their opening dates changed from the 1st april to the 1st of may and some later at the 13 may.
I've contacted the councils of beds and northants and it seems that because of the extensive damage caused by the 4x4'ers the man at the top at the beds council wants to permanently close his and the northants guy wants to extend his half of them. I have put to him they could be restricted and he alarmingly said he hadn't thought of that!
Anyway i intend to visit some more next week that are not listed as tro'd or closed to make sure they're open.
It means the ride might take us to the west of the northants county where there is a very loooong ford for those who want a go. Also a couple of quite long lanes that have been TRO'd all last year are definitely open because mudwiz and I had a moonlit session last night and they're looking pretty cool.
We also discussed the opportunity of the hill and the enduro track where I took rockoz, grumpy and littleport the other week so anyone who dares can have a go at the "HILL". About 100 foot high,1 in 3-4 gradient and a sheer drop the other side when you get to the top,the only way down is a 1 in 1 or a 1 in 2 or the way you came up.
We'll still have a good long ride with at least 10-15 lanes + some long twisty country lanes in between. The ride should finish up near daventry or silverstone but we may have to change the rendezvous/start point for the meet-up.

Right chaps, seems some more bad news i have.
The powers at be at bedfordshire county council have decided to close the one lane we really needed to ride. Forty foot is made up of about 3 large parts and links about another 3 as well and they shut it on thursday. The notice says from the first of march to the 30th inclusive whatever that means but i am annoyed because i visited the lanes last week and the week before and they were open. The notice was put up well after the 1st of april. they say it is for essential repairs but I have walked down one lane and there's nowt happening and the last one has no activity either so I'm off to the TRF meeting on thursday soi I'll raise it with my local guys.
What this means to us is the lanes graffham side of the county are not usable, there are only one or two not very long and not worth the distance.
Mudwiz and I have discussed it and we think seeing as the guys that are on the callendar are familiar with the area and the bikes coming are capable of a blat down the dual carriageway we'll do all the lanes that are open in northamptonshire and possibly finish off in bedforshire/bucks depending on time and weather.Skewbridge and the hill will still be on and we'll get in a bit of water at dodford.
This being the situation we might as well change the meeting place to nearer northampton so I was going to suggest a cafe near to the first lanes where we can have a cuppa and look at the maps before the off.
scoffers cafe,a45,northamptonshire - Google Maps
It's either this or all come to mine and the wife will put the kettle on and punish me later.
What do you think,feedback please.
I will obviously keep you informed of anything I glean from the TRF on thursday.
This has been a problem for a long time ( since 2007) when you look at all lanes in any area it's 4x4 vehicle that rip the surface to bits and leave bloomin great furrows.
The evidence is plain to see, unfortunately the "knee jerk" reaction from councils is to ban all motor vehicles not just the one's who cause damage.
It's a shame that one section of the off road fraternity causes problems for all. But when you ride around in a V8, 3tonne truck with diff locks and monster tyres.....WTF do you expect !!..
Bl**dy B**tards!
There was a section near great offley (Beds) thats had a little laminated sign up saying repairs are taking place but i too walked it saw nothing so not that ive told you but I ripped the sign out out, put the paper in my bag and threw the 2x4 over a fence and tickled onwards ;P
I havent heard anything, saw anything infact i wasnt evan there lol.
Need to be very careful or Il end up in trouble but the closure of a mud track really angers me!
Theres no need to close em or as stan said only close them to the offenders!!!
Im not bothered where we meet or what we do, Il turn up unless im dead, dying or terminally ill :P
See you all to get muddy.

A bit fat bandage on my knee prevents me from riding on roads, let alone off-road, so I'm out of this one I'm afraid![]()
