RideSafe Rendezvous 19th April at Blackpool - FREE BIKE SHOW

The 4th Annual RideSafe Rendezvous is again set to draw more than 6,000 motorcyclists and scooterists to a free, one-day show on Sunday 19th April. This year, the event moves to Blackpool and will build on a successful mix of stunt shows, live music, retail stands and road safety advice. The main arena will host both Moto Stunts International and Dave Coates; a professional stunt rider who currently holds the World Record for riding a motorcycle at 151.70 mph – backwards! Local celebrity Steve Berry, a radio presenter and former Top Gear presenter will also make an appearance in his role as a RideSafe BackSafe Ambassador.
Event organisers are hoping to attract all manner of motorcyclists from across the North West region. However, it is those new to biking and youngsters thinking about getting their first machine that could really benefit from the day out, as RideSafe BackSafe Project Lead, Shelby Williams explains;-
" The RideSafe Rendezvous is dedicated to motorcyclists and I think free entry will be particularly appreciated this year. The RideSafe BackSafe team and its’ partners within the motorcycling industry will be keen to encourage visitors to talk to us about improving their riding skills and thinking about road safety. Young riders, anyone who has recently realised how much cheaper biking is as a mode of transport and those thinking about joining the increasing number of commuters on two wheels, would especially benefit from the information and advice that we can offer ".
The event is being supported by the Highways Agency and by both the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety and Greater Manchester Casualty Reduction Partnership. Bob Baldwin, Highways Agency Area Performance Manager for North Lancashire and Cumbria said;-
" The Highways Agency is absolutely committed to working with its partners across Lancashire to drive down motorcyclist injuries and fatalities in the county. We are delighted to be supporting this important event, which will enable us to reach thousands of motorcycle and scooter enthusiasts with our safety messages and explain how we are working with contractors and through our Traffic Officer Service to make our roads safer and journeys more reliable ".
Riding instructors and Police motorcyclists will be joined by regional motorcycle groups to offer first class advice, although visitor entertainment will add to the appeal. Local motorcycle dealership Preston Harley, will be offering a new Harley Davidson Rocket motorcycle and protective clothing to the first person who enters the six digit code in a ‘Safe Crack’ Competition. Any proud owner of a custom painted bike or scooter will be encouraged to enter the ‘Best Paint’ competition and a variety of audience challenges will be held on stage in between live music performances by local band ‘The Shoks’ and other acts.
The 4th Annual RideSafe Rendezvous will be held at St Chad’s Headland, South Promenade, Blackpool between 10.00am and 5.00pm on Sunday 19th April.

Just a quick thumbs up for this event

I've helped marshal at the last couple and they're well worth turning up to.

They may even have the trials team on again strutting their stuff. The main theme of the show is safety but it helps everyone and is a good place to call even if you only use it as part as part of a ride out

    TA!

Thanks for the thumbs up and thanks ever so much for your help marshalling

    Heres some more info

Just a quick update for you all
Just confirmed is Nick Sanders - if you havent heard of Nick look him up on Wiki, really interesting guy, he is doing an interview on stage and will have a stand as well

Stand wise, lots more than last year, about 25 i think at the last count - its great Chris that you are coming back for the third year, hopefully you will notcie a big improvment on the number of stands. Oxford products are coming dowen, we have Harley Davison and they are doing a safe crack to win a Harley, a leather company, Shorrocks Motorcycle Dealers from Penwortham (the new Suzuki dealership for the area), on their stand woth be Mukka Blue racing with race bike, lots of fun competitions throughout the day. An amazing arena line up, the fabulous Dave Coates and moto stunts international http://www.motostuntsinternational.co.uk/ - if you have not seen these guys you are in for a treat, something a bit different.

We have the Lancashire Hotpots back for the second year and a local band called the Shoks - for anyone into boxing their drummer is Mick Jennings the boxer - British Welterweight boxing champion

Pit your wits in the Test Ride Your Skills challenge, you will need to know your highway code to get through the first part and then you get on the bike and try out some of the slow exercises from the new bike test

Phew I am out of breath now and there is so much more going on - hope to see you all there
