The problem is the stands need to know they've got enough well-heeled customers to walk by the stalls (one stall was selling a 1200GS for £15k!!!). Therefore they either need a huge number of punters (like at Hastings on May Day) or have a meet near a big city where the shiny-bikers might come. The Ace falls into the latter category.

To be honest, if it were not for the sparkling BMWs it would be a gathering half the size - maybe smaller. I'd be surprised whether my native Manchester or other Northern city has got that many riders of big shiny dualies to make it worthwhile.

There are certainly more fancy cars per person in the North, probably more proper working off-road bikes and about the same number of late-model crotch-rockets, but for this size of gathering, with stalls, you need to attract fancy dualies and there just seem to be more of them down here.

Soooo gutted I didn't make it. I rarely miss a bike meet especially when it's to meet up with a new bunch of people.

Had a long day yesterday, didn't feel too great and would've had to get there early to leave early and I don't like to leave until I've had enough so voted to stay at home instead.

The bonus out of this was that I got to fit my new Bags Connection tank ring and bag and to keep warm and dry as it didn't seem to stop raining (showering) until later on into the afternoon.

So when and where's the next one or are there any plans already in place to have a little meet up somewhere pretty soon???
