Trail Riding weekend - North Wales

Just seeing if anyone is interested at this stage.

I realise XRV'ers are spread throughout the country so cant really justify blasting up to North Wales for a days trail riding. It makes a long day depending on where you are located.

So how about starting a bit later on a Saturday, say deprating midday. This should give people plenty of time to arrive. Then trail riding for 6-7 hrs before camping somewhere (free camping on the moors or in forests surrounding the trails seems a good idea?).

Then a few hours on Sunday morning on the trails before we all depart approx midday to where ever we need to go.

Rough plan - meet Llangollen, North Wales for midday depart. Follow the trails towards Betsw-y-Coed wild camping in the surrounding Forests / moors (or home for those that want to call it a day). Sunday, continue on the trails towards Barmouth (or follow the same trails back towards Llangollen to make it easier for people to get on their way's). (ive only ever got as far as Betsw-y-coed on the trails so no idea how good they are after this...but there seems to be plenty on the OS maps)

I only suggest North Wales as I know a lot of the trails there....

Dates may be an issue. Galloway in August and the National in September. Still, that leaves plenty of spare weekend. Would be ideal to get this done in Summer months for the light evenings.

So who is interested, date dependant.

Count me in, please. I live fairly close (Anglesey) to your route, and can offer limited accommodation if required, plus workshop/tea/beer and endless rough camping (I live on a farm). Haven't taken the twin off-road yet, so would welcome the chance to try it in company. Yes, I followed your previous posts, so I know what I'm in for.

Work life is turbulent at the moment, so can't commit to dates a long way in advance, please post possible dates and I'll try to fit in.

    Looking forward to it.

    Tim.

I'm well up for this, as long as I'm on earlies on the friday before as I'd have to come up on the Friday and hopefully camp somewhere to be there by 12 noon (unless I leave at 5 in the morn on the Sat! Not out of the question but might be tired for the trails). Hopefully we can find an agreeable date!!

Re: Trail Riding weekend - North Wales

Dates - just checked my diary and should have really checked it before posting this idea.....anyway, here are some dates.....nothing ideal but Im still up for this if anyone else is.

7/8th August - only downside is its a week before Galloway for those that are going up to Scotland.

4/5 Sept - only downside is its a week before the National.

18/19 Sept ( 1 week after the National) Are these dates getting too far away?

25/26 Sept - It would be preferable to do it earlier due to getting dark early this late on in the year???? But Im sure it would be fun (if not reckless) doing a trail or 2 in the dark? Thats what headlights are for????

So, sorry about limited set of dates.

BUT.....anyone still up for it on these dates??????

    My preference is 7/8th August
