Thumbs up XRV / ATR Thetford Forest 2012

A brief history behind the event.

Those of you who attended will know what a great time we had at last years event; born from a meeting of XRV and ABR forum members, we all camped at Applewood camp and caravan park, Banham NR16 2HE for a great weekends riding and camping...

    Thetford Forest 29th April 2011

With some some great trails and fantastic company; this years promises to be even better, with plenty of smiles per mile.

Below are a couple of pictures from last year, plus a recent one to whet your appatite.

The group ready for the ride.

A mixed bunch enjoying the trails

Stopping for a photo or two

    Water water everywhere....

    The site and trails

The site is situated in rural Norfolk within a short ride to the start of the trails.

The campsite boasts full facilities, with clean toilets and showers on site, with a shop close by and an all important Pub just across the road .

    Group discount

Last year we enjoyed a discount on the camping due to the numbers of attendees; we are hoping that with enough people, the camp site will at it's discretion extend the same offer this year. We will do our best to try and make this happen.

Please see ATR Thetford Safari 11 - 13 May 2012 for more details.

The more the merrier so all welcome! Hope to see you there!

Please note, this event is not listed on the ABR forum!

Well done East Coast, I see the info made it over.
Looks like it's going to be a fantastic event... Ummmm Trails and water, my favourite combination.
Pity you can't make this one Paul, we'll make sure that there's a full ride report when the wheels have stopped turning.

For those wanting a bit more info on the trails have a look at this.. Trails, Fords and Winged Pigs.

Sods law this is happening the same weekend as another forum bike meet. (Carpe TDM).
Will the off road ride be on the Saturday? If it's the Sunday I might be able to get to join you.

Either way enjoy and well done East coast for putting this together again.
    I'll get there one year.

Is this the same weekend as the ABR camp at Weybourne? Two in Norfolk the same weekend seems a bit silly.

    Hi mate,
I don't know whether or not you are aware, but the 'other' event was originally conceived and planned by myself and the EAB group, which we understand has now been taken over by an ABR events coordinator.
As you may appreciate, the dates 11th -13th May were initially decided upon to suit our needs, to which we had booked days off holidays etc around the said time; further to the same it was decided that we are not going to postpone something that we had planned and invested a lot of time and effort in and very much looked forward to, so we have gone ahead.

Our event, is focused very much on what we believe to be the ethos of Adventure motorcycling which is freedom.
We have some great trails which we are happy to showcase, and if that isn't for all, there are miles of fantastic countryside, and coastlines to be explored, where after we can all meet up at camp and exchange trail tales and tall stories of our day, over a beer.

I hope this answers your thoughts on two events that clash, but as you'll have seen without them there would have been disappointments whether on our side or indeed on the other, for much the same reasons.

Hi Catteeclan, thanks for your reply, great to see you expressing an interest despite the clash also sorry for the delay getting back to you, an overdose of fresh air saw me fall asleep last night with nearly everything on except my crash helmet

We have a chap who is coming for the Friday night and Sunday (family commitment on Saturday) so I know for sure he will be up for some off road riding on the Sunday and I suspect so will a few others. So by all means pop along and join us either side of the TDM meet .

There's a few of us doing the organising for this year so I can't take all the credit but if it's anything like last year it will we a great weekend . I've just taken a sneaky peak at the TDM forum and noticed Theford in there, where are you guys planning to camp? There's massive amount of room at Banham

I'll add you to the list as a possible for Sunday / Friday night and we will look forward to hopefully meeting you in one way or another

Hi ya Cabbage, thanks and great to hear you should be able to make it , I will get you added to the list and look forward to seeing you on the Safari , I will ask Mark about the Car Boot sale, it does ring a bell but I probably missed it by the time I'd got away on the Sunday . Which reminds me..

I can't remember the name of the chap, XRV member that popped up on the Sunday on a Black Transalp (remember him being local) It would be great to see you again this year...hopefully on the Friday with your tent

Cool, another to add to the extensive list of campsites in Norfolk that will accept groups of bikers
Look out for us on Saturday and hopefully catch you on Sunday - I know there are a few guys keen to be about.

As a thought, you're also more than welcome to pop along a say hello on Saturday evening if you're in the area
