The regulars can teach you the basic skills, such as standing up on the pegs to lower your centre of gravity, you'll get loads of support. And if the worst did come to the worst and you fell off its very likely that it would be a very low speed and in mud or grass so it would do little if no damage.
So come along and see how you get on.

Chad I don't know what kit you do have but for offroad I think the most important thing is boots as it is very easy to hurt your ankles and legs in an off. It is not to say that you will have an off but rather prepared than not. Then you will probably get wet so two choices, either good breathable kit or a good cheap rain suit will work equally as well. I got on pretty good for 2,5 years with a decathlon £10 rain suit.
Gloves obviously and a helmet. You really don't need all the moto-x stuff just for a oneday offroad session so try and save your pennies. Besides by November it is pretty chilly so moto-x helmets is pretty useless anyway.
For tyre choices semi offroad is good but again if it's your first time take it easy and just get use to the gravel for starters. None of us are dakar racers so we all take it easy and enjoy the day - no pressure.
Sounds to me like I'm up for this - call it an experiment.
What are the meet details - time and place?
Presumably leave the topbox at home (apart from because they are ugly)?
Looking forward to it.

To keep it easy we'll meet again at the Countess services, Amesbury, just by the junction of the A303 and the A345 at 10:00amOriginally Posted by Whealie

Is that a hack round the M25?I usually leave around Dartford at 8:00 to have a leisurely drive and arrive at the services just before 10:00.
I may start a little earlier then and come down through Bromley to Westerham and do the A25, A24 to join the M25. It's a great road and at 8am on a Sunday should be a sweet ride.

That's the one mate, normally Saturday evenings is a late one for me so the quickest easiest route to Salisbury floats my boat. I end up doing around 320 miles for the day of which 60-80 miles is offroad at Salisbury and you end up well knackered by the end of the day.Originally Posted by Whealie
