have you got a multimeter that I can borrow tonight please?? Want to test my reg rec with it. Have the instructions in the Haynes manual of how to test. Just want to make sure it is OK (or not) before I diagnose the bulb issue. Im hoping it will just be a bulb or fuse that has gone, but heard so much about the reg rec now that I just need it tested for peace of mind. I have disconnected my new battery. If it is the reg rec I dont want it breaking another battery.

Hello Paul, got the pump fitted. Went to start the bike and it had a flat battery. A quick detour to Halfords to buy some jump leads and got the bike going. Been out for 10 mins and everything seems to be working fine. Out to the in laws on the bike tonight. Lets see if I can have a run out with no problems!!! Thanks for the advice and lend of the solder kit!!
