    1992 xtz660 tenere

Hey guys, anybody had one of these before?

I've recently replaced my twin with a tenere , so far i'm liking it, much better for the courier job, easier/cheaper to service, a lot lighter, taller, i can do an u turn in about a meter less but boy do i miss my twin. It just ain't the same.

It's worse when everybody tells you "i liked your other bike better"

So any advice, tips, wornings welcome.

This bike has to last me a while

Thanks, i've heard about about the rectifier problem but mine apears to be a finned one so somebody must've changed it.

A bit of a bitch to check the oil isn't it, i always end up putting more in cose i can see it in the air box.

Just put a micron can on it, sounds like a dakar bike now.

Tkc80s on the way then off to play, must say, much better off road then the twin but also i seem to do much better on it then on my 1991 dr650 djebel as well, strange thing.

Cooling sistem must be the best around, where a friends ktm's fan was working nonstop the tenere was showing less then half on the guage but the downside is it running to cool i think.

I had the Tenere 600 for a short while untill money matters pushed me to sell it earlier in the year. If I had a choice would never got rid of it but sometimes we just gotta let go of things

Will get one again as this is one of the very first bikes that got me interested into dualsport bikes many years ago.

My mate had one as a ride to work bike for a winter. He was too tight to sort the rectifier so he carried a car battery in the topbox and linked it to the bikes battery. Then he just kept the car battery charged.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

Went from a 97 XTZ 660 to the AT. I have to agree with every thing you said. You shouldn't have any hassle, but CHECK the oil level regularly.www.xtz660er.de is an excellent website for these machines
