    First impressions

Suppose I better post in here now.

Back to back impression of the AT to the GS.
Wanted to jot my thoughts down to see if they change after the honeymoon period.

The GS is more comfortable, not significantly, but I did a 3 hour trip without stopping which would have been (to me) inconceivable on the AT.

The GS is much more stable and carries its weight a lot better. If I didn't know I would have said its lighter than the AT. The AT seems top heavy compared.

I hate the ****ty crappy GS indicator business. BMW should get their heads out of their arses and sort this!!!

The power is excellent. I can cruise at 90 and still have room to play with if I need it. I can wheelie off the throttle.

I don't like the "torque steer" that the boxer engine gives.

The brakes are absolutely fecking awesome as they are servo assisted. However I do worry that they are too sharp and will be so off-road.

The fuel economy is almost exactly the same as the AT.

The wind noise is just as annoying on the GS as it is on the AT.

That's all I can think of for now.

I know what you mean about the mass aspect - I followed one for a short while during the Rydale rally, and it seemed to go easier than the TA, or the AT I also followed! Chatted to the owner to, and the bike was easier to pick up than the AT. (Not sure compared to the TA, but you are always stronger with your own bike!)

Does this mean we'll get to see it on Sunday?

    You'll get used to it.

They make sense in a way, and they suck in another way, but for me the biggest problem right now is when switching bikes. That first left turn on the dommie will lead to a honk every now and then.

    Lightweight

I told Chad this long time ago and the GS is more balanced

Oi you stand in the back of the que, there is a long line in front of you :P

The power is excellent. I can cruise at 90 and still have room to play with if I need it. I can wheelie off the throttle.

Yep do miss that and the fact that the wind has less of an impact on the bike is brilliant

I don't like the "torque steer" that the boxer engine gives.

That is something I do like, twist the throttle really hard then pick the bike up from the floor

The brakes are absolutely fecking awesome as they are servo assisted. However I do worry that they are too sharp and will be so off-road.

Remember to switch the ABS off and will get used to it

The fuel economy is almost exactly the same as the AT.

I thought the consumption was better on my GS even at higher speeds

The wind noise is just as annoying on the GS as it is on the AT.

    Get tobinators

That's all I can think of for now.

There will be more, give it some time

Its got new road tyres on, so although I could take these off and I have some TKC80's kicking around, I have no engine bars and therefore am nervous at this stage until I've got them.
There looks to be lots of expensive parts on it to break when its dropped.
