Fitting an Autocom to the BMW R1150GS

I think Chad asked me where I fitted my Autocom and as there isn't much underseat storage on a Beemer so I thought I'd show some pics.

After much fiddling about I decided that there are 2 places to mount the Autocom; in the tool compartment after loosing some tools and the puncture repair kit, or on top of the air filter just under the tank.

I didn't fancy loosing tools or the puncture kit so the latter option was the place.
The Autocom was fitted parallel to the battery with the lead end on the right hand side. I velcro'd the Autocom to the top of the airfilter so that it can be removed if required.
It shouldn't interfere with the GS seat on the high or low setting as the Autocom is quite tucked away.
The leads were just tucked in and cable tied to existing wiring to keep everything neat.
I had to partially remove the tank to get the mobile phone lead up to the front but that was easy enough to do.

After using it today to go to Swansea a round trip of 180 miles it seemed to perform as normal with no problems.

    No I haven't.
I've ordered a load of stuff from Nippy Normans last Thursday and I've had no reply, email or anything from them yet. The power point is one of the things I've ordered.

Bought a 12v Cigarette lighter style power point from Mr Nippy Norman a few weeks back and fitted it to the Vara t'other weekend. 2 minute job, literally. I was almost disappointed, I'd set aside most of the day for "tinkering"!

Slightly more pricey than the DIY kit I'd fitted to the AT, but worth every penny in the "no fannying about" stakes.

I bought this fella, fella: http://www.nippynormans.com/prodinfo...tem=8&mitem=62
Actually took me longer to fit the "Ultra White" Phillips Headlight bulbs I also bought! Most lengthy part of the process was deciding where to put it...so to speak! Isn't that always the way?! <sigh>
