    Wheels off

Right then I need to take the wheels off my wagon.... I mean Beemer... next weekend to get some new tyres fitted.
I've decided to go for some Tourances as its starting to get wet.
Anyway any gotcha's with getting the wheels off? Any tips?
Anything I need to worry about with the brakes being ABS?

    No probs or worries Dave.

    Pads out.

    Calipers off.

    Wheels out.

    Reverse sequence for refitting.

Slacken the rear wheel nuts with the bike on its wheels before you get it up on the centrestand.

You may have to snip a zip tie and need to support the ABS side front caliper to avoid stressing the ABS sensor cable.

Due to the centre stand position of a GS you can get either wheel out easily using the centre stand, unlike most Jap bikes that have the balance biased towards the front wheel and need the front jacking up/blocking to get the front wheel out.

If you`re taking both wheels out at the same time, put a block under the engine so there`s no chance of the bike being knocked and collapsing onto the bash plate....now THAT would be fun to try and pick up....!!

Thanks that's exactly the advice I was looking for.
I am taking both wheels out so will ensure that I stop the bike from toppling forward!
And I'll take some pics as well, just for good measure.

Easy Dave, you dig into a defensive position, make certain that your perimeter and flanks are well covered. You then need about 3 men and a huge sledge hammer to split the tracks on the Panzer, You then remove the old track by rejoining the new track to it and drive forward thereby removing the old track and simultaneously mounting the new track. Then join up the new track and off you go. keep a lookout posted to try and spot Soviet air attacks. and a copy of "Mein Kampf" available just in case the SS show up.
