    1150GS Clutch

I think my clutch is very slightly slipping.
I've read that the GS's clutches can be made of chocolate, so I'm wondering if its on its way out.
It's only done 13K miles... perhaps I'm just being slightly paranoid though. It still holds well but seems to be slippy when disengaging it. As its hydraulic there's no adjustment.
Is there a chance that the fluid (3 years old) could be creating the problem?

Dave, Jason said that it could be as fluid goes hydroscopic (no idea what it means) He also said that his does it right at the end of the travel and had been wondering if his was starting to slip. He suggests asking the GS technical forum or wait for the lovely Tarka who knows lots.

Yes I wondered when I was going to get that post.
I'll perhaps try the fluid change to see if it makes any difference.

    Do you mean hygroscopic?

That means it attracts water. Which boils and turns to gas when you compress it, and water vapour compresses really well.

Dot4 brake fluid does this, clutches use the same stuff I guess. That's why you should always use a fresh sealed container when replacing the brake fluid, and not some old opened container left over from the last time you changed the fluid.

If you've never changed the fluids in 3 years, then it's about time.

Just run new fluid through it, it's probably full of dirt, water and air. Just keep bleeding it till only new fluid comes out, rather than emptying then trying to refill it. My FJs got a bit temperamental if the clutch fluid wasn't changed every 18 months or so.

    I luuurve that gurl

Being inferior to the vastly superior 1100 ( ahem ) the 1150 is known to have a few hydraulic clutch actuation related problems....follow the advice posted about the fluid and also check the mechanism piston/seal.
There`s been lots of posts on UKGSer about it...try a Forum search or two.

    Re: 1150GS Clutch

Dave it is highly unlike that the clutch is knackered at 13k miles. Change the fluid and check it again.
