    Lure of the orange beast

I have just got back from my local KTM dealer where I test rode a 990 Adventure. WOW - what a bike.

PLUS points - fantastic engine, pulls really hard in any gear, sounds great, even thought it a lot taller than my TA the balance is fantastic, within a couple of minutes I was quite happy to stop feet up and pull away again.
Wind protection OK - the tall screen keeps the wind off your helmet but you do get a bit of butffting around the shoulders 'cos it's a narrow screen. Seat felt fine and I felt v. comfy on it

MINUS points - the throttle is extremely sensitive - so low speed progress is a jerky affair. It costs nearly £9K new!!

I must admit the TA felt very small when I got back on it

I think if I had a a spare 9 grand i would have ordered one then and there - better get saving the pennies.

The throttle seems to be dependant on mileage, I tested a 60 mile old bike and it was slightly snatchy, mine at 3300 miles is no problem at all! Maybe it's getting used to it, maybe it mellows with age, I'unno!!

Having mine serviced tomorrow, fancy a go on the Super Duke while the spannering goes on but I'd better not

Don't you think it's exactly what the AT should have become? I do.
