    XR to Big... Recommendations?

The War Office is currently reading Louis on the Loose and getting slightly inspired to get back riding again... (Would be on 'L' plates...)

The Problem is she's only 5 foot!

You Recon an XR would to Big for her? Can anyone recommend another small Trailey? Kids type might be an option... (would like to take her Green Laning...)

    Ta

You may have answered your own question - the XT225 Serow would make a good bike for someone with short legs. As would the Suzuki Djebel 200 or 250.

The XR400 and XR250 would be a bit too much of stretch for someone who's 5 foot.

'L' plates... Only up to 125 people...

(After that is she takes her 4th CBT!)

In that case, the TW125 and VanVan 125 have both got very low seat heights. Not ideal for offroad, but with only 12hp, they should be just about be okay, but the VanVan may struggle with standard tyres on it. The XR125L has got a taller seat but it might not be out of reach for her.

I learned to ride on a TW125, itīs a good bike. Fast enough for an inexperienced rider, can keep up a 120kmh cruise on a motorway (having fun chasing my instructor on his car ), very easy to ride and good confidence inspiring brakes that would only lock the front wheel in gravel but powerful enough for a very quick stop on tarmac, it also rewarded smoothness when changing gear without the clutch, was fast enough to get a move on in city traffic.

As a plus, it has a quality "old school" feel to it, with a nicely painted metal tank and seemed well put together and a comfy cushy seat. Two can seat well in the bike, obviously power suffers a bit then, but it copes as long as you donīt want speed at the same time.

Worse point were the big doughnut tires, that could feel a bit vague at speed, not a big problem though, as they did their part at soaking up some of the harshness of the road.

    Good bike I think

    Re: XR too Big... Recommendations?

Yeah, agree TW125 if no test, CRF230 or Yamaha Serrow both good choices if licence held. XRs are very tall, I'm 6'1" & sometimes struggle when tired on technical trails - my answer is to eat more pies This weighs the rear suspension down - not a very practical solution though!

Consider the Gas Gas Pampera 125 or Beta Alp 125 for a shortarse friendly trail bikes.
It's not the age, it's the mileage...

Just started reading 'Lois on the Loose' , quite a promising start, I think it's going to be a good read.
