interesting, if only it would get honda scared into doing something similar!
been a lot of talk about this but no concrete proof as yet, Its also rumoured that Belgarda (thats Yamaha Italy also known as Byrd) are building a new bike to hit the 2008 dakar.. until the official starters list is published no body knows if thats true though.
Yamaha launched the XT660X at eicma last year so its logical the new bike is launched there too.
I reckon there could be a few surprises this year yet then! By the look of the Yamaha it may make good competition for the smaller KTM's but not a serious contender for the Adventure or the GS's.
Honda's top secret replacement for the Transalp is rumoured to be released at the same time so will make for interesting discussion.
Personally, I'd like to see Yamaha come up with something special in the ADV range for a change. Their sportsbikes, the Thundercat and Thunderace were soooo bland, no competition for the flagship Honda CBR range but now look at the R6 and R1's? Right up there with the CBR6RR and the Blade. Yamaha can do it, and I'd like to see them do it.
Honda could also tempt me back with a new Transalp, bigger engine, shaft drive for touring, basically a replacement for the Africa Twin.
Until such time, I'll run my 955i Tiger, great bike! Roll on the Italian show then!
interestingcomon honda what you got up your sleve

Despacio. Hay m'as tiempo que vida
Well, I can see where both you guys are coming from.
Chad, similar position mate, but last year when I bought my Tiger I considered a new Varadero, I was going to spend around £5000 on a bike but with a new imported Vara coming in at under £6000 I reckoned I'd stretch to that for a new one and just keep it forever! The Tiger came along and I thought I'd give it a try, I'm not disappointed with the result there!
Xander, agreed, the first Varaderos had camchain issues which led to a recall for new cranks, also camchain guides were an issue for some as well but if the new Transalp has tried and tested technology (Transalp, @T and Doughville) I might be interested. The RD04 was the first of the XRV 750's and in my eyes the best of them, wish I'd kept mine. I would rather someone else took the initial depreciation hit as well![]()
I've owned five @T's in the past and wish I'd kept one of them but always had to trade up, so I'm deffo not rich. I'd love to buy a new bike, never have as yet, and just keep it. Cherished plate on to it and some extras to personalise it further, it would be my baby!
As for being a rich poser? Well,,,,,, hmmm,,,,,, I'll leave that to the BMW guys!![]()
