Rode a friends Navigator a couple of times. Great except for the fuelling which was rubbish through town (30-40mph in highish gear). He tried loads of things to get rid of it but sold it in the end. Kind of thing you think is minor but niggles away. I liked the Aprilia as a road bike (could have parts problems).
Where ever you go...there you are...
Don't know much about the Navi other than that a friend has one, which he crashed, and he's bought another one so it can't be really rubbish...![]()
It's not much of an offroad bike though, from what I've heard it's more like a TDM, a big engined sticky rubbered on-road hoon bike.![]()

I looked at both befor buying the cagiva
I felt the cap was to bulky same as a Vstrom or varedero
cagiva is more like a big TA
but it is more supermoto than trail bike
engine is straight out of a Vstrom with the same low RPM hunt
solution is to keep the revs up a bit
Hi there
Just browsing through looking for info on my other bike (a ttr 250) and spotted this thread regarding the Navigator.
The awful fueling of the Navigator can be sorted, I bought mine 4 years ago without a test ride ( it was a case of ''I want it, I want it''). After much faffing with a timing retard eliminator which helped a bit, a home made exhaust system which makes it sound as a vee twin should, I finally fitted a power commander from a TL 1000. Fueling sorted. I also did the air box mod and reset the power commander to suit.
Cheers.
Hi,
I am contemplating buying a Cagiva Navigator and I was interested in your post about sorting the fuelling on the bike. Did you have any difficulties fitting the Tl 1000 power commander and/or setting it up? What mod did you carry out on the airbox? Are there any exhaust systems off other bikes which can be adapted to fit this bike (apparently parts are hard to get).

Hi there
The power commander is a doddle to fit as the Navigator has the same engine harness as the theTL 1000 R Suzuki. It plugs straight in to the loom under the tailpiece.
The airbox mod is simply removing both the restrictive intake snorkles on the air box as per the mods suggested on the TL site.
Any after market cans will fit with a bit of ingenuity. I fabricated a 2 into 1 into link pipe between the header pipes and the cans to create the proper V twin sound. ( Deffo not a Harley sound, more a very noisey Ducati! )
Overall I think the bike is tops and would reccommend one to anyone. If you need any more info please post again.
Cheers
HI TLpower.
I´m a new cagiva navigator owner, peoples says that it has the Tl 1000 motor, but I cant feel the same response.
You says that you make some modifications, but I cant understand them, the modification of the air box is to quit the restriction... can you send me a photo, and the power comander... please if is possible and is not a problem to you, pleas sen me more information and photos of it if is possible.
Many thanks... and sory for my english. If I can help you in anything please tell me.

Hi, I know this thread is a bit old but thought this could be useful.
I have just returned from clocking up 5000km round Morocco on a Navigator.
I bought it accident damaged and was in such a rush that the only test it got before setting off to Africa was a short ride to an MOT and back.
Overall the bike was nothing short of awsome!!
It is not without fault. I am now on the hunt for a Power Commander to sort the fueling, but it is only an annoyance.
The other issue I have had is the front wheel, which as standard is fitted with an 18" rim, WHY?? This means no off road rubber is available.
I had a 19" wheel built and run on Conti twinduro tyres which have worked very well. That said, this is not a dirt bike! It is too heavy, goes ploughing in sand and the underslung oil cooler is too vulnerable for serious off road use.
As a road bike capable of eating miles and handling poor roads in it's stride, It's superb. It handles so well I kept finding myself riding off the edge of the knobblies. It's engine is effortless and at least for someone tall like me it is supremely comfortable.
I'm a little sad to say that my beloved super-moto Africa Twin is going on the market!
Cheers. Rat 750
