    MTX 125 RW-L Problems

    HI there.

I am new here and have a few questions to ask regarding my 1992 mtx 125 RW-L and hoefully somebody can answer them or point me in the right direction.

Fristly when i ride the bike it does not sound like it is running right in 1st and 2nd gear but once into 3rd it runs fine and goes like a dream. Having owned a mtx 125 in the past i never had any problems with this and don't know where to start. The engine has been totally rebuilt and ran in but was then stored for a year untill i bought it. I took the cylinder head and cylinder to check for worn piston but this is fine, but it feels like it is hesitating or missing or something as i am un sure.

Also does anybody know of any good places to infomation on the bike such as specs and also spares parts?

Hopefully somebody can help me out as my local motorcycle dealer isn't honda and the only advice i have had from them is that i should'nt have bought a honda??

    Thanks in advance.

You would need to give us more to go on, like did it run fine before it was laid up? Also more info on what happens when you ride it? I reckon the engine would either run ok or not, but it wouldn't be dependant on the gear you were in.

Off the top of my head, I'd say it's a fuel problem, maybe reed valves tired? Or could just be waxing in the carb but you haven't said if you've checked yet?

    Best of luck mate.

sounds like your local bike shop is staffed by idiots, should not bought a honda, i seldom buy anything else, what prats, they make more reliable bikes than anyonbe else.
any way to the problem, check your fuel system, sometimes the old 2 stroke oil can clog the slide, the flaot and jets i had an old pe that was not run for a while and i could not get the throttle slide our for a few days.
check the electrics, especialy earth wires.
    good luck
