hmmm, even though it's Ohlin it still has the small diameter front end

We're avoiding the TRX engine mainly as it's way to expensive and too few about and even worse they never uprated the bore design over the non-270degree engines, though we are currently looking at increasing the capacity and bore reliability of the standard 3ld and 3vd engines that are more readily available.

Also as they dropped the dakar limit to somewhere under 700cc several years ago it's no use for a Dakar and gawd knows who's then had it since then and what they've done to it

    Re: XTZ 850 for sale

its nice bike as a museum piece, sadly there are very few genuine marathon bikes left, and even less spares for them so no way would i dare use it which is sad. ...I know Tete is pushing it to a few of the heros riders but think its too much of a one off for a privateer even though he did do a fantastic rebuild. (pic below of the bike before the rebuild)

on the flip side we are selling our RX builds with the 180' crank at less than half that price! (ours also have the better kabaya front end, dual disc, road book and imo, dual fuel pump kit etc etc... sales pitch over.)

the way forward is actually not the trx lump as this engine although it has the 270 crank still has the same issues as even the bog standard 750 of high oil consumption if the bore honing is done wrong (which yamaha did for many years!)... the way forward is the new tdm900 lump as this unit uses a different cylinder and barrel design that utilizes a ceramic coating. Another big plus with this lump is its set up to accept EFI or carbs and we can easily change it over to a full on race unit with 100+bhp, data logging, digital fuel and ignition mapping etc etc etc for very little money
