Question can it live again xl250re ?

hi everyone i am new to this site so you will have to forgive , i am tryin to breathe life into my old xl250 which im sure is an import but not quite sure how to check this, it has twin carbs which im not sure if this is standard ? the clutch is shot so will need changing does anybody know if this is fairly straight forward, do i need to take engine out, new clutch cable etc.
once i have the beast alive again i want to do a spot of green lanin is this bike gonna be a bit heavy for such pursuits is your opinion, forgot to say it is down as 1985 registered.

any help would be gratefully received thanks simon.

My XL250R (1982 model) on the right back in the mid 90s. No problems greenlaning it once I got some decent tyres. The tyres I used at the time were a little known type called TKC80s.....

Clutch will be repairable with the engine in the frame.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

    I have one

    Twin carbs standard.

Fine for greenlaning,..... with some decent tyres. More aggresive tread the better.

    Hi rkid21

Welcome to the forum. I don't know anything about the xl250 but these places do spares:

Wemoto - this link will take you to the xl250 area

David Silver - didn't know exactly which model so this will take you to their homepage.

    Good luck with it.

Yeah you'll get used to that on here.

I use alloy levers and carry spares for trailriding, yours will be drum brake front so you should be ok with just one spare lever.

Use brushgaurd's, they protect the levers and hands.
