Hi folks.
Well, I went along to the show on Saturday, a very nasty day weatherwise. Makes you wonder who came up with the idea to have a bike show in Scotland in March, usually a month with snow still going about and roads covered in salt.
Ok, the outside events, if they were on, were pretty poor. Two trial bikes gooing round in a metal ball, well, I found it quite scary as it looked damned dangerous! Then there was a guy and his son on moto cross bikes rasping around a field, well, I wasn't too impressed really! Mini moto's racing just about covered the outside events, quite poor really.
In the halls was slightly better, all the big names were there, half naked chicks to go with them. The trade stands were very good and the food stands weren't too crowded as plentiful.
Now for my view on the bikes, the Honda Transalp left me cold, I'm unhappy about that as I was hoping it would do something for me. Yamaha didn't have an XTZ for me to see so poor show there. I was jumping all over the KTM and the new BMW F800, a lovely pair of bikes which certainly did impress me. Last bike I sat on was the new Triumph Tiger, felt comfy and just like an old favourite armchair. I took my Tiger out on Sunday for a blast and to be honest, I've came to love my Tiger and believe I may be persuaded to replace it with a new one!
So, to sum it all up, the Scottish bike show should be moved to April, when the salt and snow goes and more bikes are actually on the road. The outdoor events this year were terrible compared to previous years, I would honestly say the Grampian bike convention is far superior. The Scottish show MUST improve to attract the crowds. I spoke to several people who said they would think twice about going back.
As usual, just my opinion. I still had a great day out with my Fiona and my friends Eric and Jean. I'll probably go back next year. Shame about Honda though, sorry guys.
