the Honda maybe best bet for build quality and ease of getting parts?

The Derbi looks very similar to the 08' Tenere.
dunno about reliability, but its looks like a wicked 125

Well, the Derbi Senda was on the go for years, seemed to be ok, I'm sure they had a race product and it went pretty well.

I dunno, the Varadero is a good bike, would last for long enough and the sale value would remain high. Unfortunately the buy value is also high, worth the money? I don't know. The Derbi looks good, must admit. If you can get a commuter that does the job and also looks good at the same time, go for it.

Well I can't comment on the Derbi, other than the fact that it looks awesome .

The Varadero on the other hand I can comment on. I had mine for around 18 months and it was fantastic. Never had a single problem with it, it never used oil, very light on other consumables, and did 250 miles to a 17 litre tank. After 18 months of daily, all year round use, it still looked brand new. And best of all, even I didn't make it look like a mini moto .

The only real downside was that services for Honda 125's are every 2500 miles, so dependant upon the legnth of the commute, it may be in for servicing several times a year. Otherwise, I'd say get one .

    Re: which 125

had my ikkle cagiva 125 for 8 years now, and on the whole its a great bike being light weight (stock 34hp/118kg), easy to handle and goes like the clappers. styling is based on a supermoto version of the elefant so its not some tiny jap thing. good stuff is the bits are well made ( mostly ducati, brembo etc ) down side its not got the strongest of engines if you thrash it ( mine clocks 85mph easy enough!) big bore lits from pollini take it upto 185cc or fit the engine out of sister bike the mito(with big bore kit) in it and hang on for dear life!

also these ikkle monsters scrub up well if you want to take off all the unnecessary junk ( although there isnt much!)...

Great looking 125 - the best I've seen for a while

Shame nobody proof read the promotional blurb before letting joe public view it where it refers to a 21" rear spoked and 17" front wheels !!
