    Helloo

Hi all, just thought I'd introduce myself. I started trial riding last autumn after years of road bikes, loved it so much that the shiney spangley road bike has now gone and it its place next to the Beta is a 1982 xl500, and I love it !
If anyone has one of these beasties and can offer any tips it would be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Rob

Thanks for the replies, nice to feel welcome!
    Now for the questions!!
I'm sure tis has been asked many times on here so sorry for this, but tyres.. The rear is a 5.10 Metzler enduro which frankly is pants on mud! Absolutely no grip at all, which is a bit lairy when youre only 5'8 and perched on top like a pea on a drum! The front is a Golden Boy!!?? 3.00 trial tyre which dont seem too bad, but as I havn't been able to tax her yet have no idea what it will be like on the tarmac. So what do ya think? It seems that the rear should be a 4.60.. is the 5.10 a better bet? I know ther will always be a compromise when it has to do both on and off road, so looking for something more mud orientated which is also road legal. Trial tyre front and rear??
    Cheers

Used Pirelli trials on an XT350 I had. Good grip on road but they are well past their best after 2k. They are also high profile - I needed a longer chain and the wheel pulled back to most of it's adjustment for the tyre to clear the front of the swing arm.

I think I might go down the trial tyres route and see how they fair.
Cant believe that there are hardly any xl owners on here... have they all been exported to the states, they seem to have a bit of a following out there !
