3 testrides in 2 days!

First of all had a go on the new F800GS or is that GS800?? Boboneleg had a demo one and I took it for a quick spin. Felt light for a twin. Bob thought the fuelling was good but I was'nt so sure. Felt a little jerky to me (I am used to the AT's lurverly carbs). Looked good and went well. The undercarriage looked pretty vunerable for muddy adventures. I'm sure Mr(Mrs?) touratech will sort that out. I wonder what a mildly dirt prepped standard roady GS would be like?
Later that day my nephew Deano turned up on his new Transalp. Now I'm not a fan of the looks but It rode relly well and I thought fuelled better than the BMW. Handled really well on the road and felt lighter than the 219kg on paper it is meant to weigh. Yet again the undercarriage would be in danger of being mashed on the dirt and the front wheel is 19" as opposed to the normal 21" (This helped the tarmac handling).
The following day I took out a Buell Ullysses coz Riders in Bristol are selling new 2006 models at £5398 OTR with 20 months warranty and an 08 plate. Wot a larf. Supermoto handling and great brakes made for a fun ride. Good power from the Harley 1200 engine (almost maintenance free with belt drive!). Gear change was positive but slow and the throttle had about 10mm of free play which takes some getting used to around town. Shakes to pieces on tickover but once above 3000rpm far smoother than I thought it would be. On the dirt????? Maybe not much. I'm sure Tarka will disagree but that pipe and the ground clearance would cause concern. At £8500 no way, but £5400 gets you alot of bike (same price as the Transalp).
Me, well I still see an orange future!! (if I can afford it)
