Maybe it is the way forward for cabby then he will not need to worry about his rattles.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

i have a complete VT250FD rolling chassis (engine is in bits).

i would be more than willing to donate it to the project.
    Might need re-registering though

    Re: Electric conversion

before people get too excited consider the physics,
If you fit say five 70AH batteries and a 3 Kw dc motor drawing 250 amps the bike would run, in theory, for 84 minutes but running the batteries down so hard will soon destroy them so probably the practical usage time will be less ( although I do accept that the motor will not be flat out all the time).so its limited to about a 60 mile round trip between charges and the charge time will be several hours

and the real down side 3 Kw is FOUR horse power

    Re: Electric conversion

I work with electric trucks the sepex DC motor he uses Is the size we use on the hydralic lift motors if he used AC motors they would be smaller MORE efficient ,lighter. and then use a curtis or sepex power controller which is simple to instal and set up for smooth power take up. The secret would be to set up the software to charge the batteries on over run and work on the regent braking. this would be challenging but doable.

Who the hell wants an electric bike!?!?! No pulsing beat on tick over, no vibes tingling through your fingers and toes and no ear bashing drone of a motor pushing you through a series of bends. What about grime under your finger nails and that faint whiff of petrol following you around? Take away internal combustion motors from motorcycling and you've destroyed half the reasons we do it in the first place.

I agree but it does look a job well done
