Re: Made in China

My misgivings with these bikes are the chinese replica's I've come across are made of chocolate. If you ever wondered where all our baled cars go to I reckon they're all shipped to China, melted down and turned into replica bikes and shipped back over to us!
All I have seen are of the poorest standards and one winter almost finishes them, most will never see their first MOT. Everything about them is sub standard, whether it be the metal, the wiring, the switchgear, all is just rubbish. Buy at your peril!
As usual, opinions are like a*seholes, everyone has one, this just happens to be mine!

Re: Made in China

Ever heard of retrobikes.com? They make replicas of the old Honda CT 70 trail bikes. Do you believe ALL Chinese imports are the same?

You are quite right in everything you say, but even so its still nice to know that things like these bikes are still produced somewhere, and that chin down bums up in the air race style bikes are not all that is available as some bike mags would have you wish.
The thing with vehicles like this is that you cannot just ride them they need an awfull lot of commitment and maintenance like Brit bikes of old
and yes left unattended our climate would soon decimate them but again some where there is a place for them especialy with a 7.62 strapped to the chair .

Re: Made in China

I prefer my Ural no end!!

I saw a post a while back that showed bikes at a Chinese bike show. Basically there were dozens of models that I recognised, such as the BMW 650CS, the Suzuki SV650 etc, that had been essentially copied, panel for panel, bolt for bolt and then sold under a Chinese badge.

It seems that the Chinese government does not adhere to international patent and trademark laws...a real bummer for the authentic companies that loose out on a market that has a sixth of the world's population!!

Re: Made in China

There is a chinese cruiser style bike in plymouth that I have seen, it is a 09 plate and it looks like it has spent 30 years on a farm! My 13 year old Africa looks mint compared it!

Buy cheap, get cheap! You will only be losing out in the long run when the bike falls apart underneath you!
