I saw a picture in the press yesterday and It definitely got my attention.
I would love to take it for a test ride, it looks great.![]()
Do bike manufacturers have a contract with after market exhaust companys, saying they must make there exhausts bigger and uglier every year to force customers to replace them on the day they buy the bike?
I was looking at a GSXF with my friend the other day, and I swear that thing has a chrome bin strapped to the side. The only thing that was missing was the little peddle to open it. lol
Interesting, but did it really need to be 1200cc?!?
I have always liked the V4s and the VRF was a great middle-heavy weight bike that could tour and mix-it up too. That said, I really feel that this trend of bigger and bigger CCs is a bit disappointing. For the whole of the 90s it was 600-750-1000 tops, for the most part.
Now, in the constant battle to top the spec sheets (given that the MC industry is now a hobby/status pursuit for most), the only way they seem to be able to achieve those figures is to up the engine size!! The VFR is up 50% on the 800: it's a bit nuts when you think the roads are more congested and more restricted now than when the 800 was first unveiled....
Sorry to be a downer on this, but just seems to be getting a bit ridiculous now...
On second thoughts, this is essentially the new Pan, and the VFR sports tourer as we knew it, is no more...
I know exactly what Warthog means; I used to own a VFR 800 and the engine was ample for my needs, but if your mates have got 1200s then you "need" a 1200, right?![]()
The new VFR 1200 seems to be more of a replacement for the Blackbird than the 800. I hope the 800 remains in production too. When I win the lottery I'll have an 800 in my stable of bikes. (Dunno when that will be, though, 'cos I never buy a ticket!)

There is a fine line between numerator and denominator.

"Let's ride motorcycles!"
It's a real shame but I think it's ugly - I've been waiting years for honda to bring out an advanced vfr, always fancied a 1 litre version, but this looks remarkably like a rebadged K1300s from some angles.
They've missed a trick for the pan euro / blackbird buyers, why doesn't it come with Hid lights as standard, why aren't the bars / pegs adjustable - in other words they've had years to design and build this - why isn't it all singing and dancing, the v4's are nice engines, but you don't spend that kind of money on an engine alone I want a full package.
I only hope that they don't have the same "european" design house doing the vara 1200 - euro design gave us the morris ital!
