As some of you know Mabel, along with six other ladies, is undertaking a charity ride in July. It will be a challenging trip for them because I've seen a copy of the planned route. I've pasted it here for you all to see. If anybody is interested in the whole publicity pack let me know.
Day One:
Starting at the first Cardinal Point, Meriden in
Warwickshire (the centre point of England) the
women will ride south to Portsmouth and then to the
Lizard Peninsula, the southern Cardinal Point. The
route will take in the port of Plymouth and the Tamar
Bridge finishing near Barnstaple in North Devon
Day Two:
Today will involve travelling over the Severn Bridge
and into Wales, where 2 castles, Fishguard Port and
the centre point of Wales – Cwmystwyth will be
visited. The overnight stop will be at the Albert
Docks in Liverpool.
Day Three:
The beginning of the exhilarating roads of Scotland,
Day 3 will see the riders travel north, via the Erskine
Bridge, to the remote and isolated Ardnamurchan
Point (the western Cardinal point). The route today
will vary from motorways to single track roads with
passing places finishing at the foot of Ben Nevis.
Day Four:
Possibly the most demanding day of the journey will
see the riders push further north along the western
side of Scotland, calling at its premier castle Eilean
Donan. The route continues along the northernmost
coastline, the overnight stop will be near Dunnet
Head, the northern Cardinal Point.
Day Five:
Another day of “interesting” roads along the
eastern coast of the Highlands will see the group
cross the Kessock Bridge, visit Aberdeen Port and
Blair Atholl, for its famous castle and Scotland’s
centre point. The riders will cross the Forth Road
Bridge and return to England.
Day Six:
Today will begin with a trip to Bamburgh Castle
before pushing south for the Humber Bridge and
the road to the eastern Cardinal Point of Lowestoft
Ness. This day’s journey will take the group to East
Anglia’s Framlingham Castle and the port of
Felixstowe.
Day Seven:
Another early start to travel the final leg, the riders
will cross the Thames via the Queen Elizabeth II
Bridge before visiting Leeds Castle, the port of
Dover and along the south coast of the Home
Counties completing the circuit of mainland Britain
at Portsmouth.
I know she's my daughter but it's going to be one hell of a ride and I'm a really proud dad
