A big thanks . . . . . and a happy ending!

Firstly - National Meet - what a laugh!

was great to meet loads of faces although to my acute embarrassment i cannot remember who everyone was or wether names i was told were real names or cyber names!!

either way was great to meet you all and i'm just gutted i couldn't stay for the rest of the weekend!

i think my experience on saturday sums up the feeling of camaraderie on site and proves that the members of this forum are a bloody good bunch!

I'm going to get in first and tell the whole forum that i broke down - Tizer was persuaded onto the offroad section and decided after half a mile that it was not a great idea and stopped running!

bad news was that there was a large group of walkers there to witness my embarrassment good news is it started running again - then stopped 200 yards later!

in fact here . . . . . .

so that wasn't too bad!
... well actually it was!

luckily i was soon joined by Cabbage, BobA and Fewtrees who returned to the rescue!

Tools, sarcasm, advice, humour and filming were provided in abundance and the bike was stripped back and the carbs and plugs checked - we decided it was running (very) rich but couldn't find the cause - so i turned back!

i really can't thak you guys enough for all of your help and for making sure i got back to tarmac!

i limped back to the campsite with limited power and having to keep the revs high and momentum up!
(I guarantee that the guy on the CBR600RR who i blitzed on the way up kirkstone pass will not ever tell his mates that he was overtaken up legendary twisties by a large swearing bloke on a smoke belching asthmatic Varadero!)

When i got back to the campsite the assistance continued - thanks to Shep and Shel750 for the tools, Phil, Eammon and everyone else who offered it for the advice and assistance and the whole site for the stream of sarcasm and humour that frankly kept me cheerful when all i wanted to do was sulk!

It was really cool to have people around to offer advice and assistance and the upshot is that the bike is now running like a dream, not running rich and fueling smoothly!

i'm guessing once it got warm and burned the last of the crap off the plugs and cleared it's various pipes it was happy!

Phil - taking the washers out and dropping the needle was bang on and the bike now feels fantastic!

final thanks to Chad and Simon for putting up with my relatively slow pace while following me back to the motorway to make sure i was ok!

i owe more pints now than at any other time in my life but it was worth it!

next time we get together the pints will be provided!

thanks again for all your help, humour and for making it the best breakdown i have ever had!!
