If there was an award for 'farthest travelled' - it'd be yours.

As it happens there is - it comes in a pint glass!

Enjoy OSG, I found out about it years before I went. Take a hanky, what happened in the church is shocking.

Re: The route to the National

You're right; it should be seen once. I know a guy with a house not far away and he goes every time he's there, which is a bit morbid.

Funnily enough, some of those responsible ended up in graveyards close to my place in Normandy.

Also, the grandfather of a chap who stayed with us in Normandy a couple of weeks ago was in an SS division and was captured in Normandy. He had a son (the chap's father) while on parole in England after the war, went back to Germany and the family haven't managed to track him down. I wondered if he took part in what happened in Oradour.

reminds me of a rally i went to 3 years ago except it was "shortest travelled" and i thought i had it pipped at 1.5miles, across a couple of feilds for me. some posse of blue rinse biddies turned up in a micra to complain about the noise of the band, saw we werent the bunch of retards they remember from the '50s and stayed. they had actually got in the car to cross the road, bless'em.
probably all dead by now. aaaah........
