Depends on how many doglegs you're happy to make on the way up.
I don't recall anything outstanding on the main central route up.
Crossing the Pyrenees - don't think you'll need any recommendations there!
Oradour sur-glane is just northwest of Limoges (on the D82?) which may be on a 'direct' route for you. It's a 'preserved' village that was the subject of Nazi genocide with only 6 survivors (nice cheerful day out!). Worth spending a couple of hours there and the newer village outside is nice - there's a nice eatery near the entrance. I camped in Belac about 20km north of that - it's not scenic but tidy - good shower block and in the centre of the town.
Further up the area alongside the Loire River around Samur is quite nice.
I really like Brittany - away from the N12-E50, it's a dull dual carriageway (unlit at night) and some of the petrol stations close early. From west of Rennes the N164 is a bit more stimulating, then there's a good minor road to Roscoff from Pleyben.
Or there's always a west coast route?
If you get to Roscoff early I can thoroughly recommend going into the village - lovely old place with plenty of restaurants/cafes to choose from - it's only 5 mins ride back to the terminal.
Compare that to your arrival in Plymouth - straight onto Union Street.
Have fun - see you at Princetown.![]()
Thank`s for the information on the french village Oradour Sur-glane,I have read about it and wanted to go so I will spend a day there.
