    Part 3

After the excitement of the ford our small group set off again for another epic dozen miles before stopping for lunch. Then another dozen miles before an ice cream. We found ourselves at Lydford Gorge. It's National Trust but was free entry for the day, so we went for a walk. As one of the walkers we met said "you're out of your natural habitat, aren't you?" It wasn't raining, the sun was trying to come out and it was very, very humid.

The gorge had a feature called Devil's Cauldron.

It's a series of rapids and very impressive. It felt like something out of Jurassic Park or from a rain forest.

Needless to say, we took many photos. The spots on the photo are all the spray from the waterfalls.

    Another one:

    Anton88 being a rufty-tufty explorer

After that exhausting adventure we rode perhaps a dozen miles back to the campsite, over the moor.

Total time out, about seven hours. Total distance for the day, 50 miles.

Thanks once again for a terrific weekend. And thanks to Whealie for his chef skills and generosity. One Sunday morning I boiled some water in a saucepan for tea and realised it was the first time I'd unpacked my saucepans!

Arrived on the Friday met some strange people

    Where's the food??

    Oh there it is

Rubber chicken didn't want to leave his cup anywhere

Saturday we went to the beach and ate real Cornish pasties

Vader wondered if he could see his invasion fleet

To keep him quiet a couple of us decided to help him look

Can you believe that toilet was closed and I'm busting for one

It was a brilliant day in a pretty place in cracking weather

    and we ended it here

    Last shot before we left

Once again brilliant weekend thanks to everybody who turned up.

    Re: National Meet Picture's

I didn't take many pics. But here's most of what I did.....

Meeting up at Chievley Services, Newbury.
    BTbloke, Jacqueslemac, Anton and Marc

Setting up camp on the Thursday having travelled down in the dry from Newbury the heavens opened just before arriving in Princetown.

Sunrise the first morning, the sun did disappear soon afterwards

Bike's parked up outside Cap 'n' Jasper, it's raining

So we headed out from Plymouth to a point that looked like it might be nice on a map, Bigbury-on-sea......

...where we sat in the sun for a few hours drying out and supping drinking chocolate with Marshmallows and a flake, some getting more round their face (BTbloke)

Saturday, somewhere on the moor enjoying the view.

Now that's one of two big chunks of cheese that came with the Ploughmans Lunch.

A distant Hudders and Anton at Lydford Gorge.

Full sized pics. with GeoTags on my Picasa Album
