Question Luggage question for the National

I'm just sorting out all my gear for the meet, (probably far too much stuff - plenty of dry warm clothes tho ), and have a dumb ass question:

What do you guys do when you go on rideouts - leave all non essential/non valuable stuff in your tent or keep it all on your bike????

Ive got a big top box (which i have to unbolt to remove - if i went off road with this on and fell, it would definitley break), tank bag for essentials/valuables and soft panniers for me clothes.

Just dont know how safe stuff is left in the tents (obviously not very) - never done it before (im a bike camping virgin ) Just need to organise the bike for what needs to stay on it.

    Cheers
    Ant.

I've been thinking the same thing - never done motorcycle camping before so no idea what the answer is

In all the time I've gone to rallies (or camping in general come to think of it) I've left my kit in the tent and valuables (ie wallet, camera etc) with me. Tend to pitch up and strip panniers off bike to leave on site, but that said my kit isn't worth stealing. Think you'll find a couple of us will end up hanging around the camp and people are honest at heart (or am I nieve?)
another way to look at it is; is it safer on site from possible theft or on bike from possible crash damage

Well although I hate to doubt my fellow man, never leave anything valuable in your tent.
That said there are some things you don't really want to take with you such as panniers so I tend to leave that sort of stuff behind.

Another few tips, take some ear plugs with you, that LV when he gets going with Chad they'll keep you up all night.
