Good point Ladz... but remember, most of the XRV Lads & Ladettes don't make the HU meet... (Weather? ) And the HU meet is Hardcore (& wannabies), keeping the ORG meet XR specific can't be a bad thing for those that could use a little guidance maybes? And it doesn't have to be formal at all...

As a member of the Thumper Club we have had a similar situation in trying to expand upon excellent rallies by attempting to provide 'extras' each time. On the Thumper Club forum I have made my views known about keeping it simple. Basically too much organisation introduces a massive amount of responsibility and 'red tape'. With the countries current fascination for 'blame' you can be sure that had there been any serious accidents this weekend there would have been a posse of lawyers chasing someone to pin the bill on. For what its worth I would 'vote' for keeping the same simple procedure:

    Choose a location/area
    Find a suitable site
    Post dates
Everyone makes their own arrangements (food, ride-outs etc.)
DO NOT make it an organised event

Less formality allows individuals to decide what they want to do, and when they want to do it, and not feel obliged to do anything if they don't want to. Most of our daily lives are regimented enough as it is.

If you go to the Thumper Club site (www.thumperclub.com) you can read the Health & Safety information we were forced to make available.

    Rant now over, sorry!

I'm going to second that I'm afraid. Another aspect to 'organised' events is the need to charge and the enevitable problems/gripes that produces. If you're organised, you'll have to do H&S and have public liability. Cost. Put on a BBQ, someone will have to get food and recoup the money. Cost. Someone won't get a burger and grumble,or they'll be calls from the veggies for lettuce burgers. You take my point.

For my money, what made this event for me was the laid back, casual nature of it all. Everyone did what they wanted to do and no one (as far as I know) was left feeling excluded. Top event just as it is. As long as you have a good site with pubs/shops/great places to ride (or walk in my case ) and this crowd coming along, you'll have a fantastic rally

Re: So what would you like to see next year?

simple is as simple does thats me simple i didnt want to complicate things with stuff like hogroasts etc

and ive got to say i feel it went rather well..people seem much happier if they are not tied to a schedule of eating , demo's etc

but the marquee was an absolute godsend .and made a very good rallying point once people had fed their faces and had a few beers...

the one thing im worried about is the next location as this years was stunning

i think its good to move it around but its got to provide what the lakes did and thats going to be a tough act to follow

simple worked for this year so im happy with that

i agree with the relaxed approach being better!

as far as demo's goes it seemed that every time someone was doing anything on a bike a crowd would gather and everyone offered help or just watched and learned!

same format next year for me please!

as for venue - there are plenty of beautiful parts of this sceptered isle to explore!

Chad, from one simpleton to another, I agree 100%. The weather is a major factor and as you and the hagisseeers know, stunning scenery is all very well as long as it stays dry !!!
It might be an idea to wait and see nearer the time and get some time god to forecast the differences in climatic change. ( I nominate either Steve C or Fletch as I think they are both missing something up top )
Apart from that I think the area/region was ideal geographically for all of us to get to without too much hassle ( ok I was beaten to furthest away by Romeo 1 ) but what the hell, he was my neighbour for the weekend so I won't hold it against him !!!
