Why do Messages sit in my out box for hours?

Sent a message this morning at 6:27am and it's still sitting there now. (10:35am)

They way that PM's work is that as soon as you send the PM and email is sent to the recipient telling them that they have a PM.
Until they read the PM it sits in your Outbox.
So all this means is that they haven't logged on and read your PM yet.
Even with an email some people don't see the PM message at the top of the page.

Ahhh... so it doesn't work like conventional email. I thought i was doing something wrong. I expected it to disappear after it was sent.
