but more of an infuriating computer problem and I know you lot are really clever and can help.

My screen looks like it has started up in safe mode, the icons are really big and the wallpaper looks like the pixels are huge so is distorted. I hvae tried restarting, tried changing settings in my computer and every time I change them they reset to huge when I click apply. I have tried starting up pressing f8 and selecting the mode to start and it just beeped at me.

Getting desperate now although usable the hugeness of everything on the screen is very distracting.

Any suggestions Pleeeeeeeaaaaaase

not having a good night tonight, it's bloody cold, I haven't swum in the sea today because I am back home and would risk hypothermia. I broke my glasses last night and with the prescription that I need looking at at least £300 -£400 to replace them (thank god for contacts) and my boiler has just given up so no hot water for a bath.

After all that the bloody computer decided it wanted to get in on the act and now I am going to take up lowflyers suggestion and open another bottle of wine before I need to throw the sodding thing out of the window

Sounds like your Graphics Card drivers have stopped working. They probably just need re-installing. Either do it yourself or get MOM to do it for ya.

Probably a good time to also see if there's a later version (www.ati.com or www.nvidia.com or whatever your card is)

Something else to do is also to make sure that your graphics card is seated in it's slot OK. Just that cold weather and central heating makes your PC case expand/contract and has a tendancy of popping out a card. (I have mine hotglued in, that suckers going no-where)
