Posting You Tube and Google Vidoes

There's a new feature as part of this forum which allows you to embed You Tube and Google videos so that you don't need to follow a link to see the video's.

E.g. [url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OD5G_7qztVo[/url]

It has come to our attention that not all YOUTUBE URL's work when embedded into a forum post. The reason for this as far as we can gather is that the URL instead of starting with WWW.YOUTUBE.COM instead starts with UK.YOUTUBE.COM

If you find this happening all you have to do is replace the UK. with WWW. and the embedding should work. Hopefully in the near future we'll be able to alter the embedding code so all YOUTUBE URL's work.

If after altering the URLl it still doesn't work then please let the admins know via this forum, that will enable us to diagnose this problem further.

it seemed to work when I previewed so I posted and only got the text link!!

I fixed it.

You had posted the embed code. That is for html websites and does not work in this bulletin board environment.
All you need is the url - the page address. You past that into the post, double click it to highlight it and then click the relevant button (top right). The Google one is a blue G in a white box and the you Tube one says You tube in re, not in a box.

I believe (and i could be wrong) that when a video is posted on youtube, the poster can choose a "do not allow to be embedded" type option.
If this is true it could also be a reason why some dont work.

We do not use the embed coding. All you need to do is take the url, paste it in a post, highlight it and click on the right button (top right). One says You Tube (with the tube in red) and the Google video one has a blue G in a white square.

ive used the youtube button quite a few times now (check out some of my fine song choices in the virtual jukebox thread )
just thought it might be relevant
