There are some plugins for google maps (for example on another biking site, no idea if though there's any available for VB... What I would like to see is intergration more of the maps to the profile

If a map is re-adopted, could there be overlays on it?

So, for example, we could have overlays, or links to alternative maps showing...

    • Member Locations
    • Great Cafe's for bikers
    • Approximate Safehouse locations
    • Useful supplier locations

Just an idea, although I've no idea how workable it is.

With most maps plugins you can put on events/locations and even assign an icon to it... The thing though which has been talked about before which would be nice is KML files (or other GPS track files) on the map...but not yet been able to find a decent forum plugin yet

So let's have a poll to see how much you want it?
I for one found the members map to be very useful, it allowed me to remember where I lived. It also gave the scrote who burgled me the opportunity to know my exact address which was proved in court recently.
I know I know I know " It is my fault, no one else is to blame, I put it up there. Perhaps the members map should be restricted to just subscribed members.

It's one of the reasons as to why on another forum if anyone zooms in on my icon they'll find that I live in the middle of a very local roundabout

    What! From here?
It was protected to only be visible to members only?
I take protection of forum members data very seriously.
So a court has proven that the person that burgled your house was a member here and found your address on here and then burgled you? That seems incredibly far fetched, most burglars are opportunistic I thought and wouldn't be looking in a members restricted area to find your address which wouldn't necessarily be easily distinguishable anyway.

All of them do use Google maps pretty much exclusively.

Snap! Kind of. My marker on the map here showed me living in the car park of my local boozer!

    I don't ... honest!
I'm on the Safe House List
