Yes please I'd love that feature.
No thanks I don't want any of you freaks knowing where I live.

I'm on the Safe House List
Just to confirm before we have any mass hysteria....there appears to be no proven link between the forum and the burglary before anyone worries. And I repeat that the members map was secured and only available to registered and logged in members, plus there is also a clear warning when you add a tag not to point to your house.

ok, i admit it, I AM SPARTACUS! oh no, that wasnt it, its that i am the 1 who voted WTF?
then i read most of the other posts and kinda figured it out. if its like some sort of forum google map where safehouses, events, meets etc are put then great, but that sort of thing takes a lot of hard work and dedication to keep up to date, because they soon fill up with past events, old addresses etc. someones got to keep an eye on it or have a time out self deleting jobby on all the entries.
Not sure if it was this site or another forum I frequent but when I put my 'mark' on the member map I made sure it was a couple of miles from where I actually live![]()

Very true Russ. Unless you're careful - and not on the electoral roll (the unedited list IS freely available to all, you just have to go to the correct county office n have a look).
People put all sorts of personal stuff on the web, which might be relevant/seem a good idea at the time. This can be looked at by people you may not want to. Hence my job & personal details will remain nowhere to be seen... and besides, they're irrelevant to the forum.
Many people can easily be found - with various amounts of personal detail by just Googling a name and trawling facebook/myspace etc: photographs, location, work, interests, friends etc; if the main subject doesn't give enough away, then their online buddies might (no I'm not a stalker)
I would never, EVER put my details on the web.
Once you hit 'submit' you've lost all control on access to that information - forever, which could bite you in the a*se one day.
Without the maps, others can see where we are generally, as most enter a rough location in their sig'. I'm on the safehouse list, but to use it a member would have to PM for a lock on.
Not trying to breed paranoia here, many don't mind their life on the web and their's nothing wrong with that - just my tuppence worth.![]()
If anyone wanted my address they could though either look at my domain names or on the companies house register...
Yes, I think that it is a good facility. A pin in the map showing your approximate location is all that is required, town or village or roundabout. For the techies it could be added to a tab under 'Community' a logical place. 'Maps', for instance, could also be used to show the via points for The Longest Day. I have used Mozilla Firefox and had no user problems with Maps.

Great Idea, I'm all for it. Maybe we could also make use of this map as a "Safehouse" locator with different colour flags.
