Members maps - Do we want one?

So we had a members map that after the forum upgrade I took away as it wasn't working properly.
However some people seem to want it back....

So let's have a poll to see how much you want it?

    IMHO
If it works great, but is it going to take a lot of effort to resurect that could be better spent elsewhere.
I think its a "nice to have" but not a must have.

I'd like to see it back.

But if it's stopping you coming out to play by making too much work, then I guess we can manage without!

I quite liked the feature and as I predominantly use Firefox it seemed to work fine, If it returns then fantastic if not then I'm sure I'll to live without it

Re: Members maps - Do we want one?

The strategy at the moment with developing the forum is to try to use out of the box functionality where we can, i.e. what vBulletin has available, first.
And then if we need it to do more then we go looking for supported mods to vBulletin second.
And then if we still need to have it then we custom build our own as a third option.

The member map was a second option, but the author (not me) had decided to stop supporting it and updating it, so it got more and more broken as various versions of vBulletin came along. We seem to have a reasonable wave of opinion wanting it so I will now go and see what supported mods are available. If I can't find one..... as I couldn't last year when it first started having problems then we'll need to custom code something and I rarely have the time to do such things nowadays, but we do have some other developers on board now that might be interested in tackling that side.

How about google maps - I've seen other sites using that. All you'd have to do then would be to link to the url...
