    Halfords Professional Torque Wrench 8-60Nm

This is a replacement wrench following my purchase of a Clarke 3/8" Drive Reversible Torque Wrench which turned out to be an extremely poor piece of kit so I wasn't going to take any chances so went for the quality end of the spectrum this time.

As before I review using the same three criteria as before.

    Namely

    1 be easy to set.
    2 be accurate and
    3 not fall to bits

1 Well the Halfords wrench uses a window to a linear scale (as opposed to micrometer style which I'm not fond of) so it's a doddle to get the setting bang on.

2 Well its repeatable and on the parts of the range that overlaps with my large (quality) wrench it agrees exactly so again top marks there

3 It just feels well made with a reassuring click and no indication that this won't last a lifetime.

So it ticks all the boxes then. But what about downsides. Well it does come in a large tube (much bigger then the contents) that won't fit in my tool chest so the box had been dispatched and the wrench just sits in a drawer along with the sockets. A smaller box, more akin to the size of the wrench would be better. It is also expensive at £50 but its a quality tool that should last (unlike the Clarke one that was a waste of 15 quid) and despite the price it still offers excellent value for money.

    All in all I'm impressed.

    Totally agree,

I have the very same wrench and I'm really pleased with it.

It's good quality for a decent price. It's not cheap, but it doesn't feel cheap either.

Agree with Boris on the Tube, very impractical and you'd think they'd pack it in something better. The £14.95 impact driver I've got from Halfords comes in a very nice metal case. And that also contains loads of different bits, so I'm sure they can make something similar. I'd be willing to part with a few (FEW) quid extra for that as well...

Also, it would have been great if they'd packed a converter socket with it from 3/8 to 1/4.

    All in all, good kit!
