Good Service Centre in South London?

Does anyone know of a good service centre in South London please Brixton, Streatham etc? I have had my AT for 5 years now and must have come across every cowboy in business.

As a SAFFA i am not that familiar with some of the old school service centres that may be around.

Unfortunately i live in a block of flats so doing the work myself isn't much of an option either.

    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Thank you

    Howzit Graig,

If you keen to get the parts and bring it over to my place one Saturday will help you service it boet. How many miles is on the bike so I can get an idea what needs to be done if you feeling adventerous I do have a garage so no probs come rain or shine.

Unless you keeping a dealer service history etc on the bike there is no point throwing your money in the water. Alternatively try these guys in Kennington

FWR Discount Tyres & Motorcycle Accessories
    330 Kennington Road
    Kennington
    London
    SE11 4LD
    Tel: 0207 820 7818

Not only do they do good deals on tyres but friends of mine had their bikes serviced there and very happy with the results. I service my own bikes from day one and my AT is on 40000 miles now.

I did plugs and filters etc on mine for the first time and a few other little jobs and it took me only a few hours (it would take even less now I am adept at taking the thing apart), so if you want to order the parts and come round mine you're welcome to use my garage, Haines manual and tools. I'm in Lewisham.

Gents, thank you both for your offers, that is very generous. I will most certainly consider them. I would need to do the service in about 6 weeks time so will get back to you.

I used FWR last year for tyres and asked them to do a pre-mot service for me. When i picked my AT up the front brakes were binding so badly i couldn't ride it.

I ended up at Chas bikes who rebuilt the calipers but only because they were right around the corner from my office at the time. NEVER again.

Well there you go some good some bad as always. The service on these bikes is relatively straight forward dude and like I said if it is a mere plugs, oil and filters it can be done in no time. When you have decided closer to the time let us know.

In the meantime read some info on the various "service" threads on the Africa Twin section and you will see it is fairly easy and basic to do.

I will have a better look around the site later today. Thanks again for your help.

I'm not sure exactly where Dave is and whether he's convenient but he's one of the old school, and comes very very highly recommended.

Re: Good Service Centre in South London?

I got a slow puncture this morning on my TA. Had a look through these forums and saw a couple of mentions for Chas Bikes - some good and some bad.

Thought I'd give it a go, as they were the nearest and my real wheel was going flat really quickly. I went in looking for a new tyre (£100+) and they convinced me all I needed was a new inner tube (£25.)

Everyone in the place was really friendly, and they fixed it up for me there and then.

There's no reception or anything like that there. The doors just open up straight into the workshop so you can watch them working on your bike while you're there.

So, they get my thumbs up

    Cheers

    Mike

Thumbs up Re: Good Service Centre in South London?

The genuinely honest and competent garage mechanic can seem like some rare, elusive species, but I can say that Dave of Wimbledon Motorcycles is one such wrench fiend!!

He has worked on Hondas for many years and is a top fellow, and very fair to boot: highly recommended:

To put it in perspective, I now live in Estonia and still buy stuff from him as well as pester him on the phone for hints whilst replacing my clutch on the TA (not that I expect he thanked me for the last one...)!!
