Weird I know but - Honda UK / Lings

Ok, in a bid to find a manual for an RD07a for another member (far flung) I contacted Honda UK, via their website, then only a couple of days or so later I get the response :

    Dear Mr Robinson
    Thank you for contacting Honda.
We do not send manuals out directly as they have to be ordered from our dealerships. We have a small number of dealerships that can send this as mail order, one being Lings Honda (www.lings.com) based in Yorkshire.
If you visit the website above and click on parts option, you will find an order form and a contact number in which to place your order.
If you have any further questions or feedback please complete our feedback form @www.honda.co.uk or call our Honda Contact Centre on 0845 200 8000.
    Kind regards
    James

I contacted Lings (who are based in Norfolk, not Yorkshire, but hey right side of the country ) and the very nice lady says, yes photocopies are available send in your VIN number so we get the right model and £9 for the Workshop Manual and £7 for the Owners Booklet.

Result!! and I didn't have to wait until the underworld became rather nippy

david silver does the same, send him your vehicle number and chasis number and you get a photo copy of the genuine manual for your specific bike. Much better than those crapy haynes manuals that dont tell you anything that you need to know. Only problem i had with the photocopy is sometimes the pictures aren't that clear

When I owned my Transalp, Lings were very helpful with parts and always delivered within 2 to 3 days.

I used Lings in preference to my Manchester Honda dealer.

I use Lings quite a lot (they're a Triumph dealership too). I can't say they're brilliant (I've never, ever had anyone call me back despite several promises), but they're always friendly.

if you have no luck with lings i have just purchased a full genuine honda workshop manual for a baby vara (about £30) from grafton honda in milton keynes. they are very helpfull and seem willing to help. i know its considerably more expensive but its clear print and nicely bound (no loose sheets flying around or getting lost). don't know if they'll do mail order? may be worth a try.
    good luck

Re: Weird I know but - Honda UK / Lings

I rang the largest Honda dealership in the UK for some technical info. Couldn't even get past the wanger on reception. Guy obviously suffering from pmt.

Lings however were more than helpful.

When I bought my first AT I knew it would be the first of many,so I bought the actual printed workshop manual.

It has a part number (photo) just order it from any dealer like you would any other honda part.

    'bout 23 quid.

Thumbs up Re: Weird I know but - Honda UK / Lings

Unfortunately the link for Lings above does not work. But I have found this one which does...

    Honda Original Parts from Lings

Very useful for a price at the time of inquirey as well as a delivery date.
