    Customer Service !!

    Honda take note .

As most of you already know some of our members have changed "Brands" lately.

I have always had products from Honda, starting with a 250 superdream back in the 80's and the last 3 were a Blackbird, ST1300 and of course my Vara.

Having changed now to KTM I have wondered about back up and what the dealers would be like, and I am completely amazed..

    When I got the bike from KTM center at Hemel Hempstead everyone was so relaxed and freindly, wether you were buying or not, good start I thought. Since then I have ordered parts and booked service dates and recieved texts from them confirming , the one I got this morning read;

"Good Morning Stan, your accessory plugs have arrived. Collect them when you are ready or we can post if you like, regards Mark, KTM center."

I am absolutely gobsmacked at the level of freindliness and professionalizm of these people, it's like " Having your Butler do it !".

Honda ( and all the other Manufacturers) take note, WE are the people who buy your goods and keep your business going. It's about time you treated us with some respect !!!..

Well of course they're gonna be nice to you, they are going to be seeing alot of you. Hell given the fact that you will need to be there 6 times as often as a Honda owner would, you will probably end up as good friends. "Same time next week?"

How you finding that lovely bike anyways Stan?

    Re: Customer Service !!

To be fair to Honda I have had the same from Nortonway Honda since getting my Varadero from them, service reminders and shop events mainly, also from Milton Keynes(Stan, you know these guys) who let me ride all their demos last year when I was getting the itch to change my bike. So since 1992 and 11 new Hondas from three shops have I just been lucky? I've had two warranty claims, a fuel pump on my first AT where the tech came to me on his way home and fitted a new one, and a piece of trim on my first Varadero that melted in the sun.

    Re: Customer Service !!

Good to see that Stanbloke has found a dealer with 'customer service'.
I never really have and my last 3 bikes have all been Honda's.
It took 3 weeks to get a simple fault rectified under warranty on my TA.

The only true customer service i have had is from 'independant' guys where they tell you exactly whats what and dont try to rip you off.

I had thought about a KTM, just been put off by the cost of servicing and i dont know if independants would touch them.

    Re: Customer Service !!

I went to my regular bike shop and the parts department had been completely remodelled and the staff had changed. Turns out I hadn't been in there for about 9 months when I thought about it.

I think I normally visit it about twice a year, when I need something very quickly, which, let's face it, with modern bike shops means sparplugs or a bit of fuel hose. Anything else and it's the 'order and wait a week' scenario. Might as well buy it over the phone from someone who has it on the shelf and gets it in the post straight away.

Say what you like about computers and the internet, it's revolutionised getting spares.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

    Re: Customer Service !!

With my R1100RS and then my R1150GS I got to know the dealer in Peterborough (Balderstons) very well over some seven years. Not because I had loads of problems with the bikes, far from it, but because I would go on their ride outs, new bike days, getting the bikes serviced, then when I started doing my own servicing buying spares etc...

One of the downsides to changing to the Varadero was that I was going to put myself into the hands of a different dealer. So far Marshall Honda in Peterborough haven't got off to the best of starts with the bike not being ready for me to collect at the agreed time, so I'm reserving judgement until they sort out the main stand they didn't have so they couldn't fit and then until they've had the bike for a service or two.
