    argos tents

    hi

just got my self one of these.... the are quick to put up.. no dicking around with lots of polls and quite spacious, if you go for one of the bigger ones you may even get a bike in with you if you need some urgent repairs

Ooooh, i like the looks of that, the medium one would mean i could stand up in it, and prolly park the bike in it and sleep there too

what is involved with pitching it? last tent i had was a massive dome tent that took an hour to put up.

    Re: argos tents

well i can talk for the small one.. but im sure the larger ones are the same
its as about as easy as it could be.

1 you put the ground sheet out and pin it to the ground.
2 get the main bit and that just clips to the base by means of the sort of catches you get on backpacks.. the sort that interlock.
3 then put the poll in and put the ropes in and tighten them up

but if your super lazy like me.... when i took it down i didn't unclip the top from the ground sheet. so i don't have to do point 2... its much much quicker than any normal tent where you have to thread those rods through..

    Re: argos tents

Skyrise that looks like a good summer tent. Great for the longest day as it's going to be hot and sunny

However, it wouldn't be suitable for use in cold weather. Whilst double skinned tents take a bit longer to put up and take up a little more room, they are much warmer.

You will generally be using your body heat to keep warm and If you have an inner sleeping compartment that is all that needs to warm up to keep you toasty when it's cold. In the single skinned tents you have to warm the whole tent, which takes much longer (and may not even warm up) and may leave you cold.

Or, as you say get a bigger one, bring in your bike after running it for a bit and the exhaust will keep you warm (joke........don't try this as you could melt your tent).

    Re: argos tents

To be honest over the years i have had a few tents, and even the single skinned ones keep me warm enough... Failing that i will wear my bike clothes in the sleeping bag..

I'm not the worlds greatest camper.. but one thing i have noticed is i can always warm up.. but keeping cool can be impossible... Year before last a few of us that went to glade festival took a cheap TeePee and it was a bit of a life saver...

    plus
I will have a meth's cooker in the tent should things get really bad..and yes!!! it will be mounted securely on a fireproof base.....

    Re: argos tents

i only plan to do some camping when it's good wether anyway, ive got a motorhome at the moment with a better central heating system in it than my flat, so there's nooooo way i'm going to use a tent anytime i will need to do things to keep warm.

i love the teepee style tents, look so different to the usual dome tents everyone has, tho i imagine if me and the Gf were to make it to a rally with you guys, everyone would have a teepee... be good for an indian themed meet tho.

don't suppose it'd take much to make an inner liner for one of these tents tho, wouldent be full size, just a sleeping compartment, the unlined bit would be the garage for the bike... fit an exhaust extension to take the gasses up and out the top of the tent and the heatings sorted

Hmm, I like that small one, especially with the price they've tacked on it now.

Pity they only ship to the UK.
