Tesco insurance

I just got my insurance renewal quote in from Devitts ..... and it looked like this ......

Insurance Cover ..................£121.46
Optional Legal Expenses........ £ 20.00
RENEWAL FEE .................... £ 9.00

Total ................................£150.46

Now, I thought that was fair ....BUT £9.00 renewal Fee ...WTF
£9 to renew the insurance of an existing low risk customer - taking the pish or what ?

So I decided to do the old "moneysupermarket" search and tried Tesco who claimed to be the cheapest by far ...... AND

Insurance Cover ............£94.50
Legal expenses ..............£25.00

Total ...........................£119.50

£94.50 for Fully Comp / protected no claims on a 999cc , £9000 bike !!!!!

REEEZULT !!

Re: Tesco insurance

Hello, I went from Bennets to Carole Nash last week, it was cheaper by about £15 and included break down cover (home start, relay and euro coverage).

Give them a try.

Graham.
I tried them last year when my renewal was up and they wouldn't give me a multibike policy. So i went with Aquote they gave me a multibike policy with £1000 accesories cover, breakdown and legal cover, gps cover, 90 days euro cover £175 excess on the xr, £125 excess on the varadero £204 FC. That was £111 cheaper than Carole Nash wanted for my Varadero alone, pays to shop around

Re: Tesco insurance

What you might have there is a a Tesco Value Insurance product. You never really know until you need to claim.

Have to say that on a £9,000 bike I'd spend a bit more on some decent insurance.

ASDA once produced the cheapest travel policy of all time, then I spotted that to claim for anything lost or stolen you had to provide the original receipt. Who keeps receipts for everything, forever?

I got the Ombudsman to declare that he could not see any circumstances under which he would uphold that as a fair insurance policy, but, at the time, ASDA did not change its policy because it knew that most people who bought its policy would not take a complaint to the Ombudsman.

Tesco are only a broker - the insurers are Zenith - like a lot of Carole Nash / Bennets etc etc use.

Excess is £200 - pretty standard.

I imagine not. I imagine Tesco has signed up exclusively with Zenith and have agreed their own wordings to get the cheapest prices possible.
