    Angry Aquote Insurance: never again!

    This is just ridiculous...

I've moved house, from Chiswick to Richmond, arguably the safest borough in London. And AQuote wants an additional £160 to update my insurance (120 for the insurer since they rate the area a higher risk than Chiswick, and £43 for AQuote).

If I downgrade the policy to 3rd party, Fire & Theft, the insurance would return £73 pounds of my premium.

However, AQuote takes £34 pounds of that fee, and since the remainder is less than £50, I don't get anything back. So they end up holding on to my money, and I get reduced coverage...

Is it me, or is that wrong on so many levels?

Definitely the last time I ever do anything through AQuote.

Called back and threatened to cancel my insurance, with a quote from Carole Nash on hand, as well as a cheaper quote from their own website (!)... They've waived all the commission and administration fees, and now I get the full £73 back for downgrading my cover to 3rd Party, Fire & Theft...

P***es me off that you have to threaten to pull your custom before they start cooperating.

It's Carole Nash for me next year!

Nice to see they gave in to you in the end, but common sense says they should have anyway without being threatened. Muppets.

Just moved from them after no problems with them... except you have to respond to their renewal letter or they automatically renew it for you, which is stupid in my eyes. With dial direct now.

I thought they could only renew automatically if you requested it.
Nowadays with so many companies fighting for your service, that would be stupid.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Re: Aquote Insurance: never again!

I didn't read my letter properly because I was busy with other stuff, read the renewal price thought I will get that cheaper, did and left it at that.

I am in holiday in Cornwall and get a phone call, informing me that they had renewed my insurance for it, but they hadn't take funds from my account yet and wanted to make sure everything was ok.

Quick panic by me thinking I was going to get charged for 2 lots of insurance but she was fine on the phone, sounded like it happens often enough. They where going to take it from my card I used last year, thankfully that has money on, but I'd be worried if it didn't.
