Salisbury Plain again.. may 06

Quarryman and I wanted to get a bit more offroad practice in before we jed off on the trip, so we started off with a couple of gentle green lanes by my house. After a while the weather looked like it'd last for an hour or two, so we scooted over to the plain for some gnarlier bits to play on.

Timed it just right, as just after we got back it started bucketing it down.

Bah I'm jealous... should have been on a jaunt myself but knackered my back.
Think I'll put a SP trip in the calendar for a few weeks.

Cool pics! Did you have trouble with the front wheel locking due to the mud?

Yeah, towards the end of the day it was all clagged up, and you could hear the tyre rubbing against it as I was riding along. I don't think the wheel actually locked up, but it was like riding with the front brake slightly on all the time - not what you want in slippery conditions on a hefty bike with road-biased tyres on!

Cleaned it out a bit with a stick and it was good to go for the rest of the day though.

I guess you fell off in the mud those one, or maybe two times, just to make Quarryman, McVicar and me feel less, well less, amateur?

Good to see you getting dirty again (does that sound a bit wrong?), when are you lot off on your marathon?

Cheers
