Huge thanks to Eyetee for the abuse of the place. It was a great weekend. We must do it again and regularly.
The Working Bee weekend proved that even worker bees can have fun. Eyetee was queen bee and what a nest! We had a huge barn to work in and had as many as five bikes at a time being worked on. I think a dozen or so members turned up.
Special thanks go to the likes of Chad, Phil and Yen who came just to help, not with anything needing doing on their bikes.
Here's some pic.
Phil came down to mine on Friday night so we loaded up and headed off on Saturday. I was taking a wheel and tyre so we could practise getting tyres on and off. I also had a tyre for Chronyx, and that was on top of tools, the new chain and sprocket kit and the kitchen sink. So I was pretty heavily loaded.
Xander arrived just as we did - about 10.30. The Queen bee had us busy once the tractors and trailers had been cleared out of the barn (and we'd had a cup of tea, of course). Phil gave it a sweep, while Xander and I pitched tents - not the luxury of sleeping on a cold concrete floor for us!
And then people just seemed to arrive endlessly and help out.
Chad and Phil basically took over my bike. While they were at the chain and sprocket, Phil decided I needed new bearings for my rear wheel and while I was off getting those, he thought he might as well take my rear brakes to bits and grease everything that didn't move (but should have).

It was a dirty job but somebody had to do it - thankfully, it was Chad.

A tale of two sprockets - can you guess which is the new one?
Just look at these guys work. I love work. I can stand around watching it all day (actually, to be fair, I was involved quite a lot, otherwise I'd have taken more pics).
Xander took his bike to bits and almost managed to get it all back together again working. He shook our hands on Sunday said his goodbyes, donned his helmet and his bike just died on him - very funny. As soon as he took his helmet off, it worked again. Those Bluetooth BMW helmets are powerful things.
Yen brought his magic tyre levers to put my tyre on Chronyx's bike. This picture was taken just seconds before Yen tyre-levered Chad's hand against the rim

Chronyx had the nicest overalls but, being the youngest, was made tea boy
And a very good job he did too - seen here learning from Yen how a screwdriver works.
Somebody tried Lord Vader's bike and could not belive the clutch was so stiff and had so little movement. The local shop did not have cable in stock, but, being a sad *******, I had one on my bike for emergencies - and it fitted the RD07, so vader now has a new clutch.
As the evening drew in we moved the bikes to the side - three black @s here:
I don't know what Lord Vader said but it made Phil wince and Xander's head fell off.
We hit the pub for the evening - as you do - and left about midnight. We headed back to the barn, knowing there was a bottle of red wine waiting for us to have as a nightcap. As John (Eyetee) went in to put the light on, he kicked the bottle and smashed it.
He was swift to conjure up some more beer, which, although totally unnecessary, was consumed with great dedication by the late night team, who put up tents indoors, used a piece of polystyrene and an airbed (the wimps also turned on a gas heater all night).

We hit the sack about 3am and had a theory the next morning that we must have all eaten biscuits with dirty hands the afternoon before because we all had headaches and iffy stomachs
.
That meant a rideout to get some breakie in a greasy spoon.
Then it was back to barn to help Lord Vader discover yet more problems with his bike and to help newcomer Mark wire what looked like a plate of spaghetti together.
And then it was time to head home.
Absolutely fantastic weekend. Us Working Bees were buzzing. It may be another year before I get all the grease from under my nails, but who cares? We had a great time.
