    Alfreds Tower

Well it were a lovely day yesterday so I set off on the twin to investigate some lanes. Went down to Frome in Zummerzet to see if I could get through Honeypot Lane.

It was fairly hardpacked so I ploughed on through. Had a quick look at the map to see where to go next and noticed ' Alfreds Tower ' . I'd forgot all about that so off I went to have a look.............

had a little walk around it and took some more piccys, couldn't go up it as it's not open until 17th March. Pity as the views from the top are great as it stands on an escarpement with views over the surrounding valleys.

Set off for some more lanes in Wiltshire, this is one of my favourite roads. It was the main road years ago before they built the A303 just over the ridge.

The views are nice as well

Time for a choccy bar and yes I did have my haircut the day before. I no longer look like a hippy

A great sunken lane near the Wiltshire border

I found some new lanes down near Hindon , this one looked OK so off I went.

Next minute I'm on the ground with bike on my leg, I managed to wriggle out and noticed petrol pouring out of the filler cap, it took five minutes of heaving to get the bugger back up as the front wheel just kept sliding away on the wet grass.

Had a look for damage but it was a nice soft landing so it was all OK, even Yen's mirrors were still intact..

I couldn't understand how it had gone down so easy then I noticed the front wheel, aaaaaaaaahhhhhh that'll be it then........clagged up front wheel

Set off for Salisbury plain on the way home, stopped at the old turnpike to adjust the clutch and then off up the old Devizes road to get back to the tarmac.

    cheers, Bob.

Note to self: If I ever lose one leg, don't risk the other by riding off-road alone.

Second note to self: When trapped under bike and petrol is pouring out, wriggle out from under it. Good advice, mate. Cheers!
